Six days a week, for just over half his life, Ruben Pardo has been operating the same elegant 6-foot-by-8-foot elevator car up and down the same 11 floors of an Art Deco office tower on Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles, CA . At 69, he’s been at his job longer than most of the workers in the building have been alive. The young people are not easily impressed — but something about Pardo awes them.
