The Lift and Escalator Industry Association will host Liftex 2010 on May 12-13 at the ExCel facility in London. Attendees will have access to networking opportunities with customers, suppliers and colleagues. In the evening after the exhibit sessions, there will be a newly added Liftex party, where attendees will tour the city on the Thames River on the Symphony Boat. LOS ANGELES DEVELOPMENT PLANS

The Los Angeles Downtown News reported on February 19 that the downtown Los Angeles area is undergoing several proposals for new developments. Despite the global market situation, attention has recently been drawn to three large projects in the area: the Convention Center headquarters hotel, the new Los Angeles Police Department headquarters and the Gold Line Eastside Extension. These projects represent more than a US$2-billion investment. Among some of the other proposed projects are commercial office buildings, restaurants, a museum, a fire tower and hotel.

KONE SIGNS PARTNERSHIP CONTRACT WITH PRORAIL

KONE and ProRail have signed a 10-year partnership agreement for the installation of new KONE elevators and their maintenance. The contract defines KONE as one of two preferred suppliers for the installation of 175 new elevators. The maintenance period was defined for 25 years. ProRail is responsible for the Netherlands' national railway network, including construction, maintenance, management and security of the network.
