An event designed to bring key industry-related stakeholders in Asia together under one roof has been scheduled for November 29-30 in Hong Kong. Vertical Transportation Asia will offer an opportunity for participants to discuss engineering challenges and best practices, including safety requirements, energy efficiency, code standardization, the use of lifts for evacuations and other topics. Delhi Metro has plans to install more escalators at Rajiv Chowk and Chandni Chowk metro stations in Delhi. At the former, four additional escalators have been commissioned, while at the latter, two new escalators from ground to concourse level are planned. Separate entry and exit gates will be erected for better passenger flow into the Chandni Chowk. This station also acts as an integrating point for the Old Delhi Railway Station of Indian Railways. Additionally, Chawri Bazar Metro Station will receive a high-capacity lift on the Hauz Qazi side of the station. The work has been prompted by expectations of additional traffic for the Commonwealth Games, to take place in October 3-14 in Delhi.

ELEVATOR WORLD has announced that Todd Daly of South Lockport, New York is the latest winner of its Jobsite Safety Awareness Contest. He identified the safety errors in the photograph on EW's Elevator Industry Jobsite Safety website. The errors in the "What's Wrong with this Picture?" included multiple fire-rating issues. A new contest photo is now posted on the contest website (http://safety.elevator-world.com/safety_contest.htm). The picture will be posted for two weeks. One entrant who correctly identifies the safety violations in the photo will be selected to win. The winner will have the option of receiving a one-year subscription to the digital ELEVATOR WORLD magazine (or a one-year extension for those already subscribing) or a US$10 gift coupon to the EW Online Bookstore.
