NEW ELEVATOR WORLD BOARD MEMBERS
Elevator World, Inc. is pleased to announce two new additions to its board of directors: Massimo Bezzi and Bobby Schaeffer. Bezzi has been chairman of I.C.M. s.r.l. in Trento, Italy, since 2008; vice president of the European Federation for Elevator Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises since 2008; and a member of the European Office of Crafts, Trades and Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises for Standardisation and ANACAM (Italian elevator association). Schaeffer is president of D & D Elevator Maintenance, Inc., and served on the National Association of Elevator Contractors (NAEC) Board of Directors for three years and as president of the organization in 2000. Additionally, 40-year industry veteran Richard Baxter has rejoined the Elevator World board. He was executive vice president and cofounder of Baxter & Sons Elevator Co., Inc. in Dallas, and was an Elevator World technical director for more than 20 years. He is an active member of NAEC and served as its president in 1984.

KONE WINS ORDER FOR KINGDOM TOWER
KONE has landed a contract to outfit the mixed-use Kingdom Tower in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, with 65 units, including the world’s fastest and highest double-deck elevators that exceed 10 mps and rise 660 m. Kingdom Tower is expected to be complete in 2018 and will be the world’s tallest building at more than 1 km. KONE plans to use its UltraRopeTM high-rise hoisting technology. The order consists of 21 MonoSpace®, 29 single- and seven double-deck MiniSpaceTM elevators, and eight TravelMasterTM 100 escalators. The system will include custom cabs and landing doors, Polaris destination dispatch, Infoscreen displays, E-LinkTMmonitoring and emergency-evacuation capabilities.

LYON TO GUIDE LERCH BATES’ GROWTH IN D.C.
Lerch Bates Inc. has named Mike Lyon project manager, Elevator Consulting Group, overseeing the Washington, D.C., region. In his new role, Lyon will provide vertical-transportation consulting for projects throughout the area. Lyon’s 15-plus years of industry experience include New Equipment engineer for KONE in Washington, D.C., and account manager for Otis in Maryland. He has also worked as a salesperson for Eklund’s, Inc. and Elevator Modernization Co. Lyon holds a BA in Risk Management and Insurance from the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business in Athens, Georgia.
